Hospital Bag Checklist with Solly Baby

So, as I’m writing this I’m not certain this post will go live before or after I have Little LaLa, but I figure I have the time to put together my Hospital Bag Checklist for you and at least give it a shot of publishing before she arrives. Hopefully, for any of my expectant readers, this one will be a huge help! After all, I packed WAYY too much last time, so this is a more comprehensive list of essentials from a second time mama…

A very special thank you to Solly Baby for providing the Fern Wrap, Rosebud Gingham Swaddle & Azure Floret Sleeper.

The first step in organizing your Hospital Bag Checklist, will be determining who will be needed a bag packed in the first place. Who is your birthing partner? Do you already have kids? Are they staying at the hospital with you, or with someone else? Once you’ve worked out your Birthing Plan, you can then start working through your Checklist.

For me, I am having Rohan (my husband) as my birthing partner, and my Mum/Dad will be at home to watch Everley while I labor, then they’ll bring her to the hospital to meet baby, and the plan is for her to stay there with us, as our recovery room is huge and we have the space (and I feel like it will be special to have the four of us together, to get her used to the idea that we are bringing this new little babe home with us)!

Here is a downloadable/printable document for you of our Hospital Bag Checklist. It includes sections for Mama, Partner, Kids & Baby, as well as a few things to remember to do before heading out to the hospital when your mind is a blur… like the car seat if it isn’t already installed, and last minute things like phone chargers and cameras!

We found we learned a lot since our last birth as we hardly touched all the things I assumed I would need, as the hospital provided almost everything recovery wise. So I would suggest touching base with your hospital to find out what they provide for you, and the things they recommend bringing, as every place is different. We are fortunate that this time, we will have a much larger recovery room so we will be able to all stay there until I check out… which also means, there’s plenty of room for my little family to stay with me!

Now, in addition to the Hospital Bag Checklist, I also want to shed some light on some really helpful and great newborn products that I truly have fallen in love with. These ones are from well-known brand Solly Baby, and they were kind enough to gift us some of their faves for us to try out and share our review with you all.

The first, and most loved, would have to be the Solly Wrap. We received this one in a beautiful neutral tone known as “Fern” which is a sage-toned green and it really is beautiful and muted. The color is great as both Rohan and I can wear it and it will go with so much wear already, that it should just fit right in! I’ve been practicing wrapping the Solly around me in anticipation of baby, so I’m hoping to be good enough at it to do it on my own before she arrives. I am also hoping to bring you a tutorial on how to wrap it a few different ways, once we’ve settled into being a family of four! Soon enough…

The second item we were sent was this gorgeous Solly Swaddle in the print Rosebud Gingham. I’ll admit, I’d already purchased the Creamy Gingham Wrap and the matching toddler Solly Dolly Wrap for Everley to use before beginning this collaboration (posts for the Creamy Gingham Solly & Dolly Wraps will be coming soon). But the pinky toned gingham is so sweet, and will tie in nicely in the girl’s shared room, as well as fit beautifully in our hospital bag to wrap LaLa in, as it is seriously, SO SOFT! Like all the Solly products, you won’t find much else that will be softer on a newborns skin.

The third thing we were sent, I had been eyeing off myself for quite some time. The Solly Sleeper in Azure Floret. I don’t know if you know this, but Solly released these timeless floral patterns (Azure & Herb Floret) in their ranges, and they sold out so fast! So I was so happy when I found out I was able to get my hands on a little Sleeper for LaLa to wear. The newborn size does look a touch large, but I think she’ll still be able to wear it in the hospital, and even then have a little time to grow into it too, which is a bonus (unless she’s a really big bubba – haha)!

Pretty much, the one thing I recommend is not so much to worry about packing cute things, pack for comfort! You will be bleeding, sore and unable to hardly move. Be sure to pack practically and don’t over-do it. Last hospital stay for me did not consist of wearing clothes even, only PJ’s. So pack a lot of stretchy undies (the hospital SHOULD provide mesh ones which are the best). And ultimately make sure all your tops are easily accessible for the baby if you plan to breastfeed.

Other than that! Enjoy your hospital stay, things will come to a halting reality really quickly as soon as you leave. So take up that nurse on her offer to watch bub while you get some rest… and hopefully, this hospital bag checklist will help with making your stay as comfortable as possible!
