FUN FACTS, ANYONE?
Let’s take a moment to be silly (a philosophy I tend to live by), by learning 10 fun facts you probably didn’t know about Everley & Me…
WE ARE AUSSIES
My husband, Rohan, and I are Australian. Born and bred in Queensland, Australia. We moved to the USA for his work. But our daughter, Everley, is an American! She was born in New York and I will forever refer to her as “Our Little New Yorker” even though she probably doesn’t even remember living there.
I AM OBSESSED WITH FLOWERS
Like, I’m not sure you realize how much joy they bring to me. My husband quickly caught on and often brings flowers home to brighten my days spent looking after Everley. It’s crazy how much our kids learn from us, as Evie now squeals whenever she sees them, and is quick to smell anything that resembles a flower or plant. So cute!
EVERLEY WAS NEARLY NAMED SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT
We LOVED the name “Capri”, but struggled to find a middle name we loved that suited it. We had always loved the name Everley, even before we were pregnant and when we placed it next to Capri, we knew straight away it was perfect.
Then when we saw her, we knew for sure it was the right choice… Everley Capri Edmonds.
I LOVE SEWING
It’s something I did in school, but hadn’t picked up again until recently. When Rohan’s mum visited for Christmas in 2017 she bought me a sewing machine and gave me some quick tutorials. Since then, I’ve made a few dresses for Everley and even one for myself!
It’s a challenge, but a lot of fun, and I hope one day to bring out my own line of Mommy & Me items.
WE HAVE TWO CHIHUAHUAS
One is a long-haired cross, Chihuahua/Yorkshire Terrier/Pomeranian, named Lacey. The other is a short-haired purebred Chihuahua, called Pixie. They were our first babies, and Everley is best friends with Pixie, and it is a delight to watch them play together.
I CANNOT BRAID
I try, and try and try. But despite the hashtag #thecoordinatedlife, when it comes to braiding I live #theuncoordinatedlife. I am waiting for Everley’s hair to get a little longer so I can practice on another person. But I definitely cannot do it successfully on myself, even after hours of online tutorials. I’m just not a very skilled at braiding… a trait I wish was very different, especially seen as I have such long hair now, it would be perfect!
WE LOVE TO ROAD-TRIP
We never thought we would like it especially after having Everley, but she travels soooo well, that we’ve road-tripped more with her than we did before she was born. Our favorite places to visit so far that are close by are Kansas City, Missouri and Chicago, Illinois.
I HAD A VERY INTERESTING PET
You will laugh at this one… I used to have a pet ostrich growing up in Australia. My dad saved it from an ostrich farm as it was a born blind, and wouldn’t have survived without special care. So he brought it home! His name was Wredge. We’d hoped it would grow to it’s adult size so we could walk it to the beach on a harness and lead.
I AM A PERFECTIONIST
I really like being organized. Almost to a fault, where I get extreme anxiety if I something comes up that wasn’t on my calendar or I wasn’t aware of something and it’s last minute. I struggle with that. But having Everley has helped me become more flexible with things and even spontaneous on occasion. I have to remind myself all the time that things are often out of my control.
EVERLEY HAS BEEN ON OVER 30 FLIGHTS ALREADY
Yep, you read this right! 30 flights! 25 of them were before she was even 6 months old! She’s already visited France, Italy and Australia (multiple times). But as much as we love travelling, the trip back to Australia is a tough one and usually takes over 24 hours of transit before reaching our destination, not so fun with a now-toddler. We try to only do those trips out of necessity or for special occasions.
