We visited our very first pumpkin patch ever last weekend! And it was way more fun than I had thought. Initially, walking around looking at pumpkins seemed like a really random American tradition. But we wanted to experience it ourselves, as we’ve been here 5 years and never done it. We’re so glad we stumbled upon Bloom Where You Are Planted Farm in Nebraska. It was exactly what our family needed in a day out. Fun mini wagon rides, hay bales, horses and games, and of course, pumpkins! We had a merry little lunch and cookies and took some adorable photos of the girls in their element…

OUR FIRST PUMPKIN PATCH
It truly is the best feeling taking your children to do something for the first time. I love watching their little faces aglow with excitement and cheesy grins and giggles. Their highlight was easily the simplest of everything, being pulled along in a little wooden cart through the bumpy pumpkin patch.
Ayla was in awe of the pumpkins! Haha. It was so adorable watching her trying to pick up her own pumpkins, grunting and then proceeding to say “ooh, heavy” in her tiny little voice. Everley was fighting the wind for most of the morning, her hair in the way for many of our photos (but she embraced it, and posed anyway – see a few of the pictures below).

I had no idea that pumpkin stalks were spiky! So there you go, we learned something new.
We tried to wear something practical, warm enough, and cute enough for photos. And opted for mint green striped dresses and chunky beige sweaters. It was a good choice, as when we arrived it was cloudy and freezing. But by the time the clouds cleared, it was warm and delightful and was easy to remove our sweaters to feel comfortable. I even managed to get Ayla’s hair into piggie-tails and she looks so much older. What a cutie!

Brooke-Lyn is wearing an English Factory mint striped scalloped button midi dress (from Nordstrom), along with her white slides (from Kmart Australia, now sold out, similar here) and her chunky knit pom-pom beige cardigan (from ChicWish). She wears her Sandy Blonde hair extensions (from BFB Hair) tied in a messy low bun and her birth flower Zola disc necklaces (from Made by Mary).
Everley and Ayla are wearing sweet little knit cardigans (from Zara) and mint striped ruffle dresses (from Janie & Jack). Everley wears her white huarache flat sandals (from Target) and Ayla wears her white eyelet flats (from Amazon). They both sport their hand-embroidered linen floral hair bows (from Etsy seller Luna Baby Bows).
