I think it’s no fun when you simply cover your outfit with your coat. Don’t get me wrong… a beautiful long blue coat like this one should be the show-runner, but I feel like sometimes we throw on a coat and forget the rest! When I am wearing something solid in color, I always try to pair it with something patterned, like florals, for a nice contrast. Like, this! Mixing hem lengths as well is a nice way to keep an outfit interesting.

Color blocking doesn’t always have to be done with solid colors either. You can achieve a beautiful monochromic look while still having interest and fun layers, patterns, and textures. For example, adding a silky smooth dress, with a wool coat has nice contrast and they accentuate each other by illuding to their differences. While the color palette keeps things cohesive!
